How to Keep Blogging

One of the most difficult things about blogging, after you have set yours up is trying to come up with new ideas to keep it going. The idea of a blog is that one will keep updating it with new information. Much like the daily news coming from your blog topic, blogging needs to have some energy from creating a new imagination point, every time your readers take a look at your daily inviting headline in their connection email or Twitter feed, they then decide if they will explore the headlines of the topic you have created today by clicking on the topic. Later, if you have written something that your followers need and can use, they will read more deeply.

After you have used these prompts you will then need to think about the three levels of reading that will be used. Not everyone will read deeply, every post you put up, but you will find that keeping the idea of the 3 levels will be helpful in developing your material beyond the prompts.
1. Catch your followers' eyes
2. Create 2-3 exciting topics for every prompt
3. Create a deeper description of these topics

How to Begin a Blog: An Experiment

Many of my associates resist the "blogosphere" because they are afraid that someone will steal their ideas, someone will make fun of their posts, or that they will waste their time because they do not have something important to say. Throw all those old ideas away. When you write a blog post you usually write it because you are making notes that you do not want to lose. There is nothing like the present for taking note of inspiration and imagination that you have.

Even if you are only repeating ideas of others or making a collection of thinking perspectives, you will find that over the length of only about 3 posts, your writing engine begins to hum on its own. Many people have kept journals. Many people have kept notebooks. Each of these writing starters has helped authors to develop. A blog does the same for people in the 21st century.

Blog posts are also very helpful when you want to get a sense of time. The energy needed to post is minimal but when you look back over your posts you will notice a pattern of change in thinking simply by putting your ideas to post. Think about yourself today. What have you thought about, accomplished, decided you would like to do? If you talk to yourself or others through a blog you will project what you would like to accomplish, what you would like to to do or achieve. Try this simple experiment. Sign in to a blog account and post three items over three days. Then, come back to the posts on the fourth day and see how your imagination has been activated.

One of my associates stated that the best part of this exercise was having the chance to see himself in print (online print) for the first time. It made him see the possibilities for his future.

When you decide to get started with your blog, you will need to find a home for it. Here are several that we like. Choose one for your needs and desires.

Blog Platforms

Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org You may wonder what the difference is between the .com and .org versions of Wordpress. The folks at Wordpress explain in this article. Mainly, the difference is that the .com version is hosted by Wordpress while the .org version is available for you to use on on the host of your choice.  If you are just getting started with blogging, try Wordpress.com; it is not as versatile as .org, but it is easy to use.

Blogger  A Google product, Blogger is also a good choice for your blogging home. It is easy to use and has many features you can customize. The Writing Stars blog is hosted on the Blogger platform.

Medium  One of the newest blogging platforms that may help you reach a large audience. Medium includes a feature that allows other readers to edit and annotate your posts. It is the brainchild of the same folks who brought us the microblogging platform, Twitter.

LinkedIn Pulse Connected with the business networking site, LinkedIn, Pulse offers yet another blogging platform you can explore. Here, you will also find prominent business influencers' posts, as well.

Tumblr   Now owned by Yahoo!, Tumblr has a social media feel to it because other users can easily reblog your posts helping you build an audience in the process. It is also a good platform if your content includes many images.
